The other day I say a documentary on the life and works of the master Stanley Kubrick. Although I can understand that his movies may not have reached a general audience, I think we can all say that he was a true visionary and a perfectionist... if there ever was one.

You can find some of his early work right
here. I think he understood and worked with light like no other and I’m sure his photography background played a big part in that. What amazed me the most of this documentary is how he took and old standard Mitchell BCN camera and custom fitted a Zeiss 50mm f0.7 lens. I’m not the technical type but f0.7 must be fucking crazy!!! If you want you can see how he achieved this
here.
Also something I really found amusing is how almost everyone interviewed, who worked with Stanley would say: " I learned sooo much with Stanley, it was a great experience... but I would never do it again". I think that says a lot about the man :)
I have a lot of respect for Kubrick’s work. Not only for the movies he chose to make but mostly for how my eyes enjoyed looking at the atmospheres he created.
Well that’s pretty much it!
I’m getting my scans back from the lab today, with the first Contax 645 shots...and some other stuff. I’m very excited!!!
Hope you’re all doing great!
Take care!
I didn't know he was a leica user... I guess that explains how every single frame of his movies are a beatiful photograph!
hope you post the scans soon ;)
The scans are actually already up! They're on my most recent blog entry.
Thanks! :)
