I want to be a part of it...
About a week or so ago Ams and I decided to take a trip to NYC... the last time I've been there was like 13 years ago. Needless to say it was like going there for the first time. Shot with the F3 and some Tmax 400 (which I loved) and some Portra 400 VC. Also shot the electro GSN with some Portra 160 NC and some digital with the Lumix DMC-TZ1.

Without further blabbering here are the shots, sorry there might be quite a few. Hope you enjoy!

Ams getting us ready for our four days of intensive walking in the city.

First thing we saw getting into the city with our bus... hazy beginning and it just got hazier.

We tried to get a smaller room but this is all they had :)

So we just spent 8 hours in a bus, we left around 11:00 pm from Montreal... that would make us around 8:00 am in NYC, I didn't sleep at all and just had the worst breakfast ever! I needed something good to happen.

We decided to go chill out a bit in Central Park... which I have to say is a beautiful place. Thank God they have this Oasis amongst the craziness.

Ams holding on to whatever energy she had left... and believe me she had plenty, I'm like an old man beside her :)

Then started the rain... just enough to wake us up!

And for some nice b&w tones.

A really nice place! Love that Tmax 400

Lots of people jogging, biking and walking their dogs!

Had to pass by the John Lennon memorial.

We walked around some more...

and more...

and yes... even more.

I love these streets... feels like you're always walking in a tunnel with all these tall buildings around.

My favorite, the Chrysler building... ageless... timeless.

I seriously don't remember where this was... all I know is that it was near the UN building.

Funny thing about NY at night are the details... so much is going on at once.
You have to click and enlarge to really appreciate what's going on in this shot.

Everything is always moving... it never stops.

Yet you feel enveloped by all this energy... I can't imagine what living here would do to me after a year or so.

Maybe I would become like him... or maybe not.

I think this is one of my favorite shots from the trip.

Not too bad that Electro 35 :)

This shot didn't turn out as I'd hoped... still I like what's going on.

Oh yes! Big city nights...

Next day we walked around Chelsea, Soho, Meat packing district and Chinatown.

She looked so peaceful.

I like the flag!

Why not just play wherever!

Or get away from the heat... my God the heat!

Always plenty of interesting faces...

Gotta keep on moving...

and stay connected!

and those cabs... they are everywhere!

Little stroll in Chinatown.

Saw this on our way. Words to live by!

Cute NY dogs!

Stopped for a drink...

And some more dog watching.

Walked some more around the meat packing district. I like how this shot turned out. The Portra 400 VC... really cool!

Another famous tallboy.

Ams reading her guidebook as we were seeing some dark clouds gathering around.

Sure enough, down came the rain!

Next and last day we walked over the Brooklyn bridge.

Which I have to say was pretty cool!

I even managed to take a picture of a giant head :)

How can I top it after that giant head. That's pretty much it, we had a great time even though I was exhausted on the way back. But at least I had 6 days left back in Montreal to do some R&R.

Hope I didn't bore you with too many pictures.
Thanks for reading and watching!
Take care!

My pleasure Chris! I realize that the more I take photos, the more I want to shoot... with film for now.
I guess I understand the addiction.

Yeah I really didn’t know how that shot would turn out especially with the Electro but I really like the result and the old lady too :)

Thanks for the comments Chris very appreciated as always!

i haven't been to new york in a couple of years. thanks for sharing this! hasn't some of the advertising gotten obscenely large? really enjoyed your post. :-)
Posted by Richard Po... on
The advertising is huge... I was impressed though by the quality of the prints, even at that size :) Thanks for watching... I’m glad you liked it!

Wow your favorite I think is mine too. :D She's just beautiful of course :D. I love the one of the lady out of the window. Makes me wonder what she's thinking about.
Posted by Richard Po... on
Yeah I know what you mean! I was wondering also what was on her mind... what she did in her life... what she’d seen in that city. Thank you for your comments, very appreciated :)

Portra is amazing! I was a big fan of the Fuji Reala... I still am but depending of where and what you shoot I think the Portra is just what I needed here. Thank you for your kind words. The lady in the window was really a fluke, I was waiting for my gf while she was shopping and as I was sitting down on the sidewalk I just looked up and there she was accross the srteet.
It was early in the morning.

It was a fantastic trip! Many things to see and shoot!
I'm glad you enjoyed the pictures :)

i started with portra, but during sunny summer iso 160 was too high for me, cause i work with canon ae-1p, so i bought - guess what - reala:) my boyfriend told me it is good, and you're next (well, i didn't believe that easy to shopkeeper:P) so i'm excited to see photos:) and hey, i'm getting them from the lab tomorrow:D

Thank you mate! :) Happy you enjoyed it! Yeah the yashica, very unpredictable camera... but that's why I love it also. It has character and keeps me on my toes :)
Times square is very impressive... even at 1:00 am!

So many of your photos have so many layers, its great! There's so much detail and so much going on.
My favorite is the one of the bridge and the people walking up the steps... A great capture. :)

Thank you so much! Its strange because I always take pictures when I feel a moment and its hard to know if its something that could be shared with others.
You're comment make me happy :)
